Wikipedia says that “Gratitude, thankfulness, gratefulness, or appreciation is a feeling or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive.”  Well yesterday I certainly was grateful to friends, acquaintances, even people I did not know and very appreciative of the Northcote Social Club for their generous donation.

The Northcote Social Club is my local pub and I have had a long standing relationship with the owners and staff there.  It’s not that I go and drink there very often, but my husband does.  They have come to the rescue for a couple of things in the last 7 or so years.  The first one being a very handy donation to the Australian Sports Foundation around 2007 to buy my rowing club at the time, Yarra Yarra, a women’s eight boat…$16,000!  Absolutely amazing for a local pub to do.

This time round they donated a keg of beer for a Karma Keg afternoon to help me raise funds for our LTA rowing crew to get to Boston.  It was only supposed to be 2 hours from 3-5pm but they started it early and said that they would keep it going until the keg ran out.  Funny enough it didn’t take long and we had drained it by about 4:45pm.  The staff were wonderful, letting customers know about the project, they posted flyers I had done up and even had info pages on tables out in the dining area!

My friends are incredible!  All year I ask for donations to different projects and they never cease to amaze me!  Between selling raffle tickets, buying beer and t-shirts in about 2 hours we raised $1255.  I have no words to describe how grateful I am for all these people in my life.  My life feels overwhelmingly abundant right now and it wouldn’t be like that without all my friends.

To me it doesn’t matter how much one person donates because every dollar counts and I know for a fact that the entire crew who will benefit from all this fundraising will do their best in Boston.  Gratitude has really opened my eyes to the incredible abundance that is all around me.

So once again THANK YOU to all who have supported all the different fundraising projects I have undertaken this year and I make you one promise and that is ‘I promise not to ask for any more from you until next year!’
