I have to say that as busy as I am I love my life and the last couple of weeks have really brought that home to me! It started with a mini-camp with my wonderful friend and team-mate Alex Green. Alex and I used to row together and it was her insistence that I come over to Para Cycling that got me riding! Alex was in town to get a new brace made for her leg and we decided to make our own little mini-camp so she extended her stay to 4 days instead of just flying in from Sydney and flying home.

My coach set us some tough days of climbing and I was able to introduce Alex to the sessions on a watt bike, the joys of the Dandenong’s – doing repeats of the 1 n 20, the Boulevard in Kew minus tacks and then we were both introduced to the hills north of Eltham. I must say that by the Monday morning my legs certainly knew that they had done a lot of climbing!

We even got a bit of culture during the weekend with a trip to the Opera to watch a friend of mine (from cycling of course) sing in ‘The Magic Flute’. Alex was also able to meet many of my friends who certainly help me get through the tough training times.

Then last weekend I had a girls weekend away in Queenscliff with good friendship, food, coffee and of course riding!  Some great training as well as introducing another friend Rosie to the joys of road riding!

So what a great couple of weekends I’ve had and that’s not taking into account all the other rides I have done in between and the talks I have done at Northcote High School and Latrobe Uni, so hence why I love my life!  I’m now into a tough couple of training weeks with final preparations for the German World Cup and the World Championships in Switzerland in the second half of July.  I’ve been watching the results from the last 2 World Cups and I am itching to get over there and race.

So thank you Alex, Clare, Rosie and Kym for a couple of fantastic weekends of riding and I am sure we will have many more to come!
