I said goodbye to Italy yesterday and the wonderful family and staff that run the Hotel Faro in Montichiari. It has been a really good 4 weeks of training in a beautiful part of the world. It also helped me concentrate on my job next week and that is performing to the best of my ability.

Saying goodbye to family and staff at Hotel Faro

4 years ago after having won a gold medal in the Mixed T1-T2 category I didn’t know if I would have the opportunity to try and do it again. But since then I have learnt that it really isn’t about the outcome it is about the process. It is about becoming the best rider that I can possibly be. I have spent the last 4 years going through and trying to perfect my racing and I am a different rider now because I have worked on my weaknesses while also building on my strengths. I haven’t been able to do this on my own, it has taken a whole team of which I am very grateful for.

I am really excited to be heading into the village and catching up with the rest of the Australian team. We are all united in one ideal and that is to have the best race, jump, throw, hit or game possible. Myself and every athlete on the Australian Paralympic team are extremely proud to wear the ‘Green and Gold’. I just hope that the Australian public is proud of us knowing that we have done our best whether we bring home a medal or not.
