With exactly one month until the 3rd ParaCycling World Cup in Matane, then the World Championships a week later in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada, the training countdown is on!  My first race in Matane is the Time Trial and I love Time Trial’s.  My training is right now in a strength phase where I am doing heavier weights than I have ever done in the gym as well as longer and strength effort rides.  And believe me when I say it has certainly been a very hard couple of weeks.

Today I am changing hats for the weekend and heading up to Sydney for another rowing weekend with our crew that is heading over to Boston in October for the Head of the Charles race.  Cycling and rowing are very compatible sports so the cross training has been fantastic.  Although after the rowing weekends I definitely need a day to recover.  This weekend not only will I be training but I also have one of my 24 Hour Mega Swims happening at the Olympic Pool in Sydney, so I will make the time to pop in Saturday evening and see how it is going.  It has also been a busy week of fundraising for Boston and a huge thank you to all those people who came out to my movie night fundraiser which helped raise $1940 for the cause.

I always have people asking me how I manage to fit everything I do into a day and sometimes I wonder myself, but I think I would be very bored if I didn’t have all of this to keep me busy.  I truly like to devote each and every day to what I really care about.  I believe that if you want your dreams to come true then you have to consistently strive to do the best that you can every day.  You can’t just say you want your hopes and dreams to come true you have to act on them.  Don’t just wish for and talk about your dreams, live them.

The next two months no doubt will be difficult and challenging (coach Helen will make sure of that!) but I will embrace them and move positively through them.  I know that there will be all kinds of distractions and I know that I will have some days where I try to come up with excuses, but that is when the commitment to make real and meaningful progress has to kick in no matter what.  I think that the best way I look at it is I just think about my competitors and what they are doing, this spurs me on!

So yes, the countdown is on to that first race and I will make every day between today and the 23rd of August count!
