With only 12  days before I leave Melbourne to head to Canada I am putting the final touches on my training to be ready to race.  I always seem to feel like there is never enough time or days in a week to do everything that I want to.

I have had a couple of really tough weeks, not just with my training program but also with the weather…cold and windy weather!  They do say what doesn’t kill you just makes you stronger and with some of the wind that I have contended with I am stronger than I have ever been!  But I must say that I am looking forward to some much nicer weather once we land in Canada.

Some of my training in the last couple of weeks has been on the Velotron in the lab at the Victorian Institute of Sport.  This is a stationery bike that is attached to a computer and I am able to ride the Canadian course with all the corners, uphills and downhills put in.  Last year before London this was such a valuable tool that just seemed to give me that edge I was looking for.  So I am hoping that a few more sessions on it will have me knowing the course inside and out.  I did find that last year it made the actual course much easier because the computer gradients were much harder.

Although I only have 12 days left it is important that I invest in every single day to get everything perfect.  If I go into each day giving it my all, that investment in each session will bring bonuses within my races.  You can never leave anything to chance!  It is important to be inspired by every training session and the possibilities that training will give me in the long run.

gust of wind

So it is time for me to take a deep breath, train hard and smile through every gust of wind!!
