There was a story told that when Thomas A. Edison was a little boy, he overheard the teacher tell the inspector that Edison was ‘addled’, confused, and it would not be worthwhile keeping him in school any longer.
He burst out crying and went home and told his mother about it. His mother went and told the teacher that he didn’t know what he was talking about, that her son had more brains than he himself and a lot more talk like that. In fact, she was the most enthusiastic champion a boy ever had, and Thomas determined right then that he would be worthy of her and show her that her confidence in him was not misplaced. She home schooled him in reading, writing and arithmetic and Thomas A. Edison became a genius of the Century. Think of what we wouldn’t have if Thomas would have believed his teacher.
6 key things that Edison invented were: The light bulb, the automatic telegraph, the carbon telephone transmitter, movie camera and viewer, and the alkaline storage battery. Just think of the number of things this world would be lacking without the genius of Edison and his inventions.
Having self-belief gives you the power to accomplish anything. When you believe you are something, you embody and embrace it. Belief is not all it takes though; you must put actions into your beliefs in order for your goals and dreams to come to fruition.
“If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves” ~ Thomas A Edison
