Negativity Poisons the Soul

Have you ever noticed how we as human beings are hardwired to look for the negatives in life?

We tend to look for the bad or negative and bring that into our everyday lives, from listening to the news (which is always bad), to rumours at work. How many times have you gone home from work and actually talked about the good things in your day, instead of what went wrong or the rumour of someone doing something wrong?

We get this from our DNA, from the caveman days when we were constantly on the lookout for predators, or finding food or shelter. But we have evolved from there… at least most of us have!

We have to avoid the drama of life and focus on the truly beautiful things in life. Our lives are so short that we need to stop wasting our time on negative things that weigh us down. Dwelling on negativity is like carrying an anchor—it drags us deeper into frustration, anger, and dissatisfaction. And when you’re trapped in that cycle, it poisons your soul.

But there’s an antidote: intentionally choosing positivity. It’s about rewiring your brain to look for what’s going right instead of what’s going wrong. Start small. Share one good thing from your day, with a friend or even in your journal. Surround yourself with positive influences, and notice how it shifts your mindset.

The truth is, life’s too short to carry the weight of negativity. Let it go. Focus on what fills you with joy, gratitude, and peace. Because when you do, you’ll feel lighter, happier, and your soul will thank you for it.
