Letting Go: Moving Toward What’s Next
There’s something powerful about letting go. It’s not always easy—especially when you’re deeply invested, when you’ve given everything to a journey and built a life around it. But sometimes, letting go is the key to moving forward into something even greater.
As I approach my final race at Nationals in January, I reflect on my cycling career with immense gratitude. I feel lucky to step away on my own terms, closing this chapter not out of necessity, but because it’s simply time. After years of training, competing, and dedicating myself to a path I’ve loved, I know the road ahead holds new possibilities. I am not afraid of letting go because I know it’s part of creating space for something new.
There’s a truth in knowing that if we cling too tightly to one chapter, we may miss the chance to fully live out the next. You will not get what you truly deserve if you’re too attached to the things you’re supposed to let go of. Life is filled with cycles—sometimes you love, sometimes you struggle, and sometimes you learn. And then, you move on. That’s not only okay; it’s necessary.
The life we plan often isn’t the life we’re meant to live. As I step away from cycling, I embrace the uncertainty of my next journey. Whether it’s continuing in sport or sharing my story on stage, I trust that by letting go of what I once planned, I can fully experience the life that’s waiting for me.
