Who Do You Need in Your World?

Have you ever really thought about who you need in your world? It’s often said that the people we surround ourselves with shape who we become. Their energy, mindset, and habits influence us more than we realise.

So take a moment and ask yourself—are you happy with the person you’ve become? Or have you unintentionally surrounded yourself with people who pull you down, drain your energy, or keep you stuck?

I once had a friend who was never happy. Every conversation was filled with complaints, negativity, and frustration about life. No matter how much I tried to encourage them, their outlook never changed. And after years of hearing nothing but doom and gloom, I realised something—this wasn’t the kind of energy I wanted in my life. It wasn’t easy, but I made the decision to create some distance. And you know what? It was freeing.

I’m a glass-half-full type of person. I choose to see the positives, look for solutions, and embrace life with optimism. That doesn’t mean I ignore challenges—it just means I refuse to let negativity become my default setting. And that starts with being mindful of who I surround myself with.

If you’re looking to grow, improve, or simply bring more joy into your life, take a close look at the people around you. Do they inspire you? Do they challenge you to be better? Or are they content staying exactly where they are, with no desire to grow?

There’s no right or wrong answer here—some people are perfectly happy where they are, and that’s okay. But if you’re feeling stuck or unfulfilled, it might be time to make some changes. Seek out those who lift you up, who share your values and aspirations, and who make you excited about what’s possible. Because the right people in your world can make all the difference.
