8 Reasons Why It’s Okay to Be Wrong and Make Mistakes

None of us likes to be wrong or make mistakes! I know that I hate it, but why do we feel like it is the worst thing? Being wrong or making a mistake can leave us feeling unworthy or less valuable. We think people are always watching and seeing our mistakes. But sometimes we are the only one that really notices our mistakes because the rest of the world is more worried about themselves.

Every day we all make little mistakes or are wrong about something!

We can’t always be right because no one in the world is perfect.

So why is it okay to be wrong?

  1. It shows we are human and vulnerable, the same as anyone.

  2. It makes us own our mistakes and take responsibility for our own actions because once we do we can then find a solution.

  3. It teaches us about failure and helps to make us more resilient. This resilience will in turn help us accomplish our goals. Knowing how to fail, err, come back, work harder, fall down, and get up again is crucial to succeeding.

  4. Understanding that we are wrong or have made a mistake makes us more humble. If we think that we are above making mistakes we stop questioning and challenging ourselves.

  5. Being wrong and admitting it shows that we are willing to say, “hey I’m not perfect” and this in turn makes people respect us more.

  6. When we are wrong and make a mistake this can help us change deeply embedded norms in our life. It can help us to see that there is probably a better way.

  7. When we are wrong it becomes a life lesson. We learn from every mistake that we make, even if it is only a small one.

  8. One small mistake will not dictate your entire life, nor will being wrong. Rebounding from a mistake or being wrong is probably one of the best things you can do by showing everyone how strong you are.

Few of us are ever happy when we make a mistake whether it’s a small one or a large one, but we really have to believe in our heart that it is okay to stumble, mess up and then try again, in fact it is probably necessary to become the person we really want to be.

I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.
