Unleash The Warrior Within
The past 18 months have been really hard for all of us, some harder than others. I think that we all have struggled at some point; some have lost loved ones, businesses have closed, people have lost their jobs, lockdowns and we are living amidst the chaos of changing times around the world. A lot of us have become fearful about the changing world and how we may have to live in the future.
Fear is the biggest threat to us moving on and we have to find that warrior within each of us to overcome it. But how do we do that?
Awaken the warrior within yourself today by doing something that will make you feel strong and alert. That could be going for a walk, a bike ride, hiking, yoga or swimming. It doesn’t matter what you do just do something. Make this a regular activity every day. Make a commitment to yourself to do this.
Starting your day right will awaken that warrior and you can then work out what it is you really want out of life. The following steps will help:
If it’s to lose weight, get a new job, start a new business or just try something new, then write it down. Make this a goal
Tell someone what you want to do, make yourself accountable.
Make a list of what you have to do to make it happen. Plan on how you are going to succeed and stick to your plan.
Set a time limit on each of the tasks or steps that you need to do, this will stop you procrastinating.
As my dad used to say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day!”, so don’t worry too much about the destination but the steps to get there. Focusing on the steps will bring that goal closer.
Stop the negative talk to yourself, instead of “It’s too hard” try “It’s hard but I’ll learn”, or “I’ll never be good enough”, you could say “I’m just not good at it right now but I’ll practice and become better”.
Be kind to yourself. Most of the things we say to ourselves we would never say to a friend, so be that friend.
All of these points will help strengthen your willpower, will help your self-confidence and sharpen your focus. If you don’t succeed you can learn from your mistakes and look at it as an opportunity for growth to try a different way.
We all have a warrior inside us and in these times we all need to find that warrior and put them to work! We need to be fearless in the face of adversity and move on with our lives.
