3 Ways to Increase Your Self-Belief
I am certain that if you believe in yourself, your goals and dreams can become reality. But at times it is hard to keep those positive beliefs going because there will be people around who will react negatively to what you are attempting to do. Little comments can cut you down!
When I am speaking to a group be it children or adults I always say to them ‘If you don’t believe in yourself and your abilities, then how do you expect others to?’ If you don’t believe in yourself your self-doubt will devour your confidence and strip logic and reason from your mindset. If you have a negative perspective drummed into you, you will start to believe it.
We are born without any beliefs and it is only through the process of growing up that our beliefs are created and become learned behaviours. These beliefs are learnt from our parents, siblings, teachers, friends and mentors. They are also learnt from our past experiences.
‘Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.’ ~ Golda Meir
So how do you develop powerful self-belief?
1.Self Talk – the words we choose when we talk to ourselves can be powerful. Change your narrative…I can’t – I can, I’ve got to – I get to, I’m wrong – I’m mistaken or I’ll never understand this – I’m learning to understand this. Once we start practicing positive self-talk this will lead to a better self-belief.
2.Shift Your Focus – instead of worrying about your weaknesses or failures try focusing on the accomplishments in your life. Write down positive characteristics every day. These don’t have to relate to you; just try to come up with positive characteristics, such as; intelligent, generous, sexy, strong, humorous, determined and approachable. Try to come up with more words each day. Focus on the words, learn to embrace them, read them often and you will find that your subconscious will start to embrace them and you will start to take on those qualities.
3.Find Your Inner Strength – embrace all the challenges and changes in life with a positive mindset. These are here to strength us. See every difficulty as a challenge, a stepping stone and never be defeated by anything or anyone. You mind is a powerful thing, when you fill it with positive thoughts your life will start to change
No matter how you try to increase your self-belief you really have to develop a vision of what you believe you can DO or BE. But remember that practising all this and learning to believe in yourself doesn’t mean you will be perfect, none of us are. But having a powerful self-belief will give you permission to make mistakes and be able to deal with setbacks.
